Genealogy Clutter Closet

I was looking for Christmas music.  Here's what I found instead:
  • Heritage of Alabama, Series Index CD, a list of surnames in the county books; costs me about $20 and available by calling 1-800-568-1611; I could also do a couple of look-ups for you.
  • Heritage Quest, from ProQuest Company, CD of the 1920 Florida Census Index.
  • Florida Land Records 1700's-1908, Land Records Series #2,, (CD-ROM), From GRS.
  • The Genealogy TimeLine; a CD program for creating timelines.
  • Florida Civil War Soldiers Index, Eastern Digital Resources.
  • Vital Records Index North American, Family History Resource File.
I don't know whether any of these are still available, but we've all gotten so used to the ease and convenience of the Internet that I'm not sure any of these are worth hanging onto.  What think you?  Will my Windows Vista PC still run these antique CD's?

It's kind of an ongoing question these days. Remember when you could no longer play eight-track tapes? I guess all of the media storage we count on today will eventually be unreadable on the latest equipment. The big question is, how valuable is the data? Worth reproducing on another medium? Or is it, too, outdated?
